Always get your pasta al dente

The problem with pasta is that you never know when it is "al dente".My friend, a real gambler with a poker face, told me that the guy he bought his car from, had told him that while he was working with real estate( buying and selling houses and that kind of stuff) he'd sold a house to lady from Cantina,Italy
She told him that one of the best way to achive "al dente" is by using the "average method".Start by boiling some water.
Put in 1/3 of the total amount of pasta.
Then wait
Put the next 1/3 into the boiling water
Then wait
Put the last 1/3 into the water
Wait a little
Now you're done
You will now have 1/3 over cooked pasta,1/3 somewhere in between pasta and 1/3 under cooked pasta
The avarage of this mix is pretty close to "al dente"
